This meta – analysis considered the findings from 23 randomized clinical trials which looked at 1357 subjects with type 2 diabetes.
Almost all of these studies compared the results from low and very low carbohydrate diets against low fat diets.
At six months, those on a very low carbohydrate diet achieved higher rates of diabetes remission.
Further, the authors of the study found that:
“According to a priori determined minimal important difference estimates, large and clinically important improvements in weight loss, triglycerides, and insulin resistance were also seen, without adverse events”
This is further evidence of the belief that diabetes is a dietary disease, which can best be dealt with by changes to your diet.
