The keto diet can help you too
Why do some people find the keto diet difficult?
When first starting the keto diet, many beginners find they are eating the same foods over and over again.
This leads them to feel that the keto diet is restrictive, or unable to meet all their nutritional needs.
Fortunately, neither of these conclusions is correct.
The keto diet is able to meet all your nutritional needs when followed correctly.
Further, there is an almost never ending range of foods and meals that are keto friendly.
There is no need to eat the same few meals far too often.
When you spend a little time reading recipes and learning a few basic cookery skills you’ll be amazed.
Not only does the keto diet allow for an amazing range of meals, they are super tasty too.
Feel like a steak with a great keto sauce, a side of chili prawns? You won’t want to go back to your present diet when you see how good eating keto can be.
With that in mind we at living well with keto have put together some of the most popular keto diet books for beginners.
This book is the number one best-seller on Amazon and it’s easy to see why.
It’s packed cover to cover with amazing keto recipes and has over 6000 rave reviews. It’s hard to find anything not to love about this book.
It explains the recipes and gives menus, shopping lists and nutritional values too.
What the reviews say:
This book is split into 3 parts: The Ketogenic Lifestyle, The 14-day Meal Plan, and the recipes. Before this book, I really didn’t fully understand what a Ketogenic Diet was. Chapter 1 defines it for me in 4 words, Low-Carb, High-Fat. This diet promotes fresh whole foods and healthy fats & oils, and cuts out processed, chemically treated foods. It also tells you that when you start a Keto Diet, you’ll most likely experience the Keto-Flu!
Chapter 2 – Go Keto in 5 steps. 1-clean out your pantry. Egads! No dates or peas, 2 of my favorites! 2-Go shopping and stock up on the basics- water, coffee, tea, spices, herbs, non-sugar sweeteners, lemon & lime juice, mayo, mustard, pesto, sriracha, broths, pickled foods, nuts & seeds, meats, eggs, wild caught fish, nonstarchy veggies, berries, avocados, full fat dairy, avocado oil, olive oil, butter, lard, bacon fat. 3-set up your kitchen with a food scale, food processor, spiralizer, hand mixer, and cast iron pan. 4- plan your meals, and 5 -exercise!
This book is great for beginners! We have tried several recipes and they are great. Nothing crazy to buy. Highly recommend!
The Easy 5-Ingredient Ketogenic Diet Cookbook: Low-Carb, High-Fat Recipes for Busy People on the Keto Diet
This book comes as a paperback, spiral bound or on kindle.
We enjoyed the kindle version although we can see a lot of advantages to having the book as a spiral bound.
It would certainly make keeping the book open while you follow your recipe instructions.
This book places the emphasis on easy to follow recipes that use no more than 5 ingredients each. We found that some recipes went over this 5 ingredient limit but they remained super easy to make.
By using just a few easy to find ingredients you’ll be able to make 125 amazing, single pot keto friendly meals.
There are also substitution tips and ways to customize the recipes to suit your own taste.
What the reviews say:
I am so delighted with this book. It is so easy to follow – it’s true ketogenic – I have made so many dishes from this book and have ordered her next book coming out in September as well. I find so many so-called ketogenic cook book authors are not true ketogenic as they include recipes with ingredients that are defintately not part of keto way of eating.
I love when delicious recipes are uncomplicated. This book is a great intro to keto. We’ve already made a few of these recipes many times over in a short period of time.
The Essential Vegan Keto Cookbook: 65 Healthy & Delicious Plant-Based Ketogenic Recipes: A Keto Diet Cookbook
If you’re vegan and wanting to benefit from the keto diet, this book will be for you.
A Vegan keto diet plan can be challenging to follow, and this book will show you how to keep on track.
The book offers sunflower seed waffles, Tex-Mex cauliflower steaks with guacamole, creamy “cheeseball” bites, and delicious desserts like a macadamia nut mug cake.
We found the recipes easy to follow, and even non vegans would love the results.
On the negative side, some of the ingredients may be hard to find, and many of the recipes depend on soy or coconut milk. If you don’t like these ingredients this may not be the book for you.
However, the truth is that being vegan and keto is not an easy choice, and so these recipes are not going to be quite as easy as those in standard keto books.
What the reviews say:
This cookbook is fantastic! It has interesting and delicious meals, snacks, desserts and more, and it shows the macro/calorie breakdown for each recommended serving. There is also an introduction on how to navigate the keto lifestyle if you are a beginner. I am vegan and my partner is Keto, and this book makes it easy for us to cook together. I’m excited to try every recipe in this book!
This is one of the best vegan keto books around. The recipes are delicious and inventive. Lots of useful tips throughout the book.
We absolutely loved this book, even if it is about meals you haven’t cooked yourself at home.
If you’re not familiar with dirty keto it’s a way of being super lazy with your food prep.
While we don’t recommend dirty keto as a long term plan, it certainly has it’s place in a keto diet.
For those times when you don’t want to cook at all, this book offers, in their own words:
Breakfast, lunch, dinner, or just a coffee? We all enjoy fast food! The DIRTY, LAZY, KETO Fast Food Guide: Ten Net Carbs or Less shares complete lists of what you can order at 35 different restaurants. There is SO MUCH MORE to order out there besides the “bunless burger!”
They go on to list what foods you can eat in just about every restaurant and fast food place out there.
Not really a recipe book we know, but a lot of fun and it will help you to get great food while you’re out and about.
So if you don’t always want to cook, and don’t feel like you should be the keto police at all times, we think you’ll enjoy this book.
What the reviews say:
If you’re looking for a guide on living keto in this fast paced world, this is it! The Laska’s have done the homework for you by providing an easy to read book with great keto meal choices. This is keto for the real world without condemnation for eating fast food! Her amazing story backs it up with her time tested weight loss and maintenance. There are other versions of the keto lifestyle that are so strict that it can quickly become overwhelming for someone trying to adapt to a different way of eating. While this approach can also be successful, Stephanie has proven that you can still lose the weight, be healthy, and maintain it by adopting basic principles of the keto diet into your life. AND you can do this while still eating out at places that you’ve always gone to! Highly recommended along with her first book “Dirty Lazy Keto”
Keto-Green 16: The Fat-Burning Power of Ketogenic Eating + The Nourishing Strength of Alkaline Foods = Rapid Weight Loss and Hormone Balance
This is another specialist keto cookbook by the number one best-selling author of The Hormone Fix.
The author explains:
Hormone production dips as a woman ages, leading to increased visceral fat. By pairing keto-diet staples with foods that bring the body’s pH to a more alkaline level, you’ll shed belly fat while balancing the hormones responsible for that bulkier midsection. And by fueling your brain with ketones—like rocket fuel instead of gasoline—you’ll make better decisions, including healthier choices for what to eat. The unique nutritional balance of the Keto-Green 16 diet also boosts mood.
The recipes in this book also have versions for vegetarians and vegans which is a nice touch too.
It also promises to cut out your chances of the keto flu. So if this is an issue for you, you may want to consider following the food suggestions in this book.
And it’s not just us who are recommending this book:
“A powerful program that paves the way for lasting health, longevity, and disease resistance.”—David Perlmutter, MD, New York Times bestselling author of Grain Brain
Certainly a book well worth reading and following, especially if you’ve had a hard time losing weight.
This cookbook is a USA bestseller.
Its absolutely packed with tasty easy keto friendly meals.
Very easy to follow by anyone with only very basic kitchen skills.
It has over 100 recipes, and had our mouths watering at the sight of them too.
There really isn’t anything negative to say here, and it’s easy to see why this cookbook is so popular.
What the reviews say:
I am loving this book! I was recently diagnosed with type 2 diabetes in September 2019 and have been following her site since then, and have made so many recipes. What I love is that she makes it easy and simple to follow. Fast track to October 18th, I am now off of meds using alot of her recipes.
Onto the book, it is excellent with pictures and references. Also I love the variations that she inputs, exp, making dishes with coconut flour vs almond flour, swap outs and explanations of keto that are quick and not overly drawn out. If you are looking for an excellent keto recipe start, I highly recommend starting here! In addition also visit her blog wholesomeyum.
(I made) blueberry scones (insane delicous!), low carb almond bread (delicious!) Zuchini noodles, the list goes on and on and on.
These are all amazing books and further, these are books which help you to keep to your keto diet, and enjoy your keto journey too.
The keto diet is without a doubt the best way for you to reach your weight loss and health goals.
So , if you eat everything, are vegan or veggie or just plain love take away food, one of these books is going to be a great help.
