Here I will present one of the reasons that chronic conditions occur, followed by what you can do to get back to good health.

What is chronic disease?

Chronic disease: how to stop suffering

Chronic disease is the leading cause of death and illness in the world today.

Worse, the numbers are going up all the time.

The World Health Report 2002 has this to say:

” the mortality, morbidity and disability attributed to the major chronic diseases currently account for almost 60% of all deaths and 43% of the global burden of disease. By 2020 their contribution is expected to rise to 73% of all deaths and 60% of the global burden of disease.”

Further, the four most common chronic conditions are:

  • Cardiovascular diseases
  • Cancer
  • Obstructive pulmonary disease
  • Type 2 diabetes

In all of these conditions, being overweight or obese plays an important role, and any preventative measure should aim to address this problem.

What causes chronic disease?

Chronic disease: how to stop suffering

While it’s fair to say that sometimes there are several reasons for the development of chronic diseases, very often one of the biggest causes is a poor diet.

Some food choices are so bad for you we have discussed them separately. These ultra poor choices include sugar especially high fructose corn syrup and seed oils.

You should avoid these like the plague; there is nothing good to be said for them.

Grains, being very high in carbohydrates should also be avoided. In fact, any high carbohydrate food is going to do a number on your health and here’s why:

What role do carbohydrates play in chronic disease?

Although no carbohydrate is essential, some carbohydrates are relatively healthy, whilst some should never be eaten.

The ones to avoid are the simple and refined carbohydrates which are a leading cause of chronic inflammation.

When you know that sugar is 100% carbohydrate, the reason for avoiding it is easy to understand.

Chronic Inflammation in it’s turn is a major cause of chronic disease: reducing or avoiding this sort of inflammation will be the most effective thing that you can do to keep yourself as healthy as you can be.

If you’re not too sure which carbohydrates are OK to consume read here for more detailed information.

What does Chronic Inflammation do to health?

Chronic Inflammation can be caused by:

  • Autoimmune disease which attacks the tissues as if they were a pathogen or irritant
  • Long term exposure to the substance that was causing the inflammation.

These health problems are also associated with inflammation and include:

  • Rheumatoid arthritis
  • Inflammatory Bowel Disease such as Ulcerative Colitis and Crohn’s Disease
  • Diabetes
  • Psoriasis
  • Some cancers
  • Neurodegenerative disease such as Alzheimer and Parkinson Disease
  • Lupus

That’s a very long list of diseases, but the truth is that many times inflammation can be controlled by knowing which foods to eat or not to eat.

How do you prevent Chronic Inflammation before it leads to Chronic disease?

Once you know which foods promote inflammation and which foods to avoid, you will be well on your way to dealing with this problem.

Some of the highest carbohydrate ( and inflammation causing) foods are sugar and grains.

Unfortunately, these foods are to be found everywhere, and I do mean everywhere.

They are in so many ready meals, that is generally a healthy choice to simply avoid ready meals altogether.

Sugar in particular can hide under multiple different names on food labels (52 at the last count). If you’re going to avoid sugar, you’ll probably need to consider always reading the food label before you eat.

Candies, cakes and other sweet baked goods including breakfast cereals are where you’d expect to find sugar (and grains and seed oils) but other places are not so obvious.

These include:

  • Pasta sauces
  • Yogurt
  • Salad dressings
  • Breakfast cereals
  • Coleslaw
  • Tomato sauce
  • Some breads
  • Crackers
  • Alcohol mixers
  • Instant oatmeal
  • Coffee from specialist outlets
  • Non Dairy milks
  • Marinades
  • Jerky
  • Deli Meats

When you decide to skip  dangerous sugar, you’ll need to be super vigilant if you want to cut it from your diet completely.

Is there one diet that directly reduces chronic inflammation?

Chronic disease: how to stop suffering

Any diet that seeks to reduce your carbohydrate intake is going to have the effect of helping you to lower your level of inflammation.

This is the reason why  low carbohydrate diets are so popular.

Plus there is the added benefit of a low carbohydrate diet helping to keep you to a normal body weight.

In particular these sort of diets can help you to eliminate dangerous visceral fat.

This is the fat that is carried around your waist, and is particularly bad for your health.

Further, it is now recognized that being overweight or obese has a huge impact on your general health and susceptibility to a host of chronic conditions.

So, any diet that lowers your daily carbohydrate intake from the 250 grams a day AKA the standard American diet, is going to help to get you back to health.

However, the keto diet, with it’s emphasis on a very low carbohydrate intake, is the super star of the low carb world.

What is the keto diet?

The keto diet is a low carbohydrate, medium protein and high fat diet.

It is one of the best ways that you can reduce disease causing chronic inflammation.

It is also famous for it’s ability to reduce weight. By doing this, you will be minimizing any risk you may have from being overweight or obese.

This is a diet that has been extensively studied and documented. There is no longer a reason to believe that it does not help to achieve optimum health, as well as reducing excess weight.

For more information about the keto diet see here, here and here.

Many times, it is easier to deal with inflammation and chronic disease than  most people think.

Discovering the truth about Chronic disease, how to stop suffering  and how to deal with the condition is often easier than most people believe.

The good news is that there is a cheap, drug free  way that you can help yourself to get rid of the causes of most chronic diseases.

By changing your diet, you can achieve all of this, and probably in a lot less time than you think.

Many people find that their weight loss and inflammation improves after just a few short weeks.

Those with migraine and type 2 diabetes are some of the people who have been able to completely reverse their condition with the keto diet alone.

Given that both these conditions are still generally accepted as chronic and irreversible, this is an amazing finding.

The evidence is overwhelming, and there are now numerous studies that show the link between diet, chronic inflammation and the development of chronic disease.

This may not be the only cause for your condition but it’s certainly a major cause.

With this in mind, you could do no better than to take a long look at your current diet.

If it’s anything like the standard American diet, you will be eating far too many harmful simple and processed carbohydrates and harmful seed oils.

Consider following the keto diet: All the information is here on site to get you started. It’s free, it’s relatively simple and it’s a way that you can take control over both your health and your weight.
